We are elated to see the growing interest and communications about design for impact at an international level. Along with numerous articles, opportunities, events, and our PID100 Global infographic, the team at Design Corps has been expanding their reach this year, beginning with PID Global in Paris this past April. In anticipation of their second international event, PID Mexico, in September, six projects have been selected for the Public Interest Design Awards: Mexico based on the criteria of Effectiveness, Excellence, Inclusiveness, Impactful, Systemic, and Participatory. The project winners will present at the public two-day convening at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Facultad de Architectura (UNAM) in Mexico City September 11-12, 2014. One of the six accomplished jurors commented on the array of projects:

“Most of the projects have as their purpose the betterment of the quality of life for sectors of greater marginalization, especially the indigenous. Another relevant factor is a very respectful attitude towards the population, valuing their knowledge and experience together with varied forms of promoting participation and inclusion which makes them subjects of their own development. Several of the projects are replicable in other places and some are systematically designed and scalable. Some projects which work with Mexican NGO’s that have many years of experience assisting rural and indigenous communities are especially valuable.”
